Hello to all.   I had a great afternoon working on a quilt project.   I found a quilt pattern on the internet last Monday and could hardly wait to get started on it.   I decided to work with fabrics I had a home.    Well that did create a small problem--I ran out of one color. and I kept sewing some of the block around so I had to do a little ripping.    But I love the project and would like to share it with you in a class.  (We will make sure you have enough fabric).   This will be a project that will be a three week project starting in March and finishing in April.  March is National Quilt Month so a lots of the club are also focused on quilting.

December 27th, 2015
Hello!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.   My magical moment was again Christmas Eve.   This has always been my favorite time of Christmas--singing Christmas songs and rejoicing in the birth of Jesus.   The cnadle lighting service with Peace, Peace and Silent Night cap the evening. Such a peaceful way to celebrate.
Our church did do a play this year that I did not need to write--but it was beautiful and meaningful--"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever".   My granddaughter Cassidy sang with her friend Melina " What Child is This" they did a great job.
Spent Christmas Day with Loren's family and my Mom on Saturday.   Dawn and Dave left on Saturday to go on a trip with Dave's family but left thetwo little girls with me and Loren.   I should have a very busy week as the Inman girls should join us several days.
We will be starting classes again in January.   I do have a class schedule at the Hutchinson Sewing Center store 506 N. Main so if you stop in there you can pick it up.
We will be starting with Embroidery Club, Software Club as well as Sewing/Quilt Club.
I want to wish you all a Happy New Year.   BJ

November 29th, 2015
Hello to everyone.   I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.    It sure was an interesting weekend.  Loren and I didn't have any plans for Thanksgiving day so I sewed 3 little girls Christmas dresses.   They are ready for fittings and marking hems.    Maddison tried on her dress and it fit perfect.    Dawn and her family had planned to come on Friday afternoon but Dave got sick with the flu and they stayed home.   So Matthew and his family came over Friday evening for a Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, corn, pecan  & pumkin pie.    We had a great time just missed Dawn and her family.   Saturday we slid to Yoder to celebrate with Loren's Dad and his family.    Again we had a great time.   Sunday we were to go to my Mom's for dinner but with the forcast of more ice Mom cancelled the dinner.    But Loren and I decided to go see Mom with left over turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and pie.    It was a wonderful afternoon.

I don't have lots of things planned for classes at the store.     The only event that is planned before Christmas is  the "Club Luncheon" on Saturday, December 12th.    I'm planning on making two pots of soup, you bring the rest--crackers, bread, deserts, vegetables or want ever.   I would like to know who is coming so that I can have enough chairs and table space.   You can contact me through my e-mail  hutchmidwest@sbcglobal.net.

Tuesday, December 29th -- Kids Kamp "Pillow-on-the-
Go". 10:30 am to 1:00 pm    This is the same class I just taught this past Friday.   If you are interested in the class either go by the store for a registration form or contact me.
There is also a sample pillow down at the Hutchinson Sewing Center store.   I will be limited to the number of students so if you are interested don't wait to long. Class & Kit fee   $15.00

November 8th, 2015

Where has the year gone?   We are just about 6 weeks away from Christmas.   I need to get going on the Christmas dresses for the granddaughters.  Talking about granddaughters, I got the grannie fix this weekend.   Dawn and her family were here as well as Matthew's family.   Had a great weekend with everyone.   Church was fun also as we celebrate our Mission Sunday.
Our focus this year for Mission Sunday was on the MCC meat canner.   Our church was involved with meat canner in North Newton, Oct 31st and Nov. 2nd & 3rd.    I took pictures at the meat canner and had our church cordinator talk to the junior dept (4 yr through 6th grade) about the canner.   I set up a mock canner line with whole corn, into jars and into a pressure canner, labeling the jars and then into a box.   The kids enjoyed the canner line.    Jason also brought a can of chicken for us to open so the kids got to taste the chicken.   What a great time we had.   Now it's back to work.   We will be having our last "Sewing/Quilt Club" for the year and I need to finish the project.

August 30th, 2015
It is always amazing how things work out.   This morning Greta  & I along with the 2 yr olds through 8th grade did the Sunday morning worship service.   It had been and interesting summer and we had not had all the kids together at one time to practice.   They did an assume job.   Then had pot luck dinner afterwards.
I would like to take a few minutes to thank all my wonderful customers.    You have become more then just my customers you are my friends and family.   I enjoyed my job and looked forward to each day that I went to work, ready to tackle the issues of the day.    Each day was different and you never knew who or what kind of sewing machine or vacuum issue would come up.    The one thing I have found out is I enjoyed education people on sewing as well as vacuum cleaners.   Yes there is a big difference between the big box vacuum and a dealer based vacuum.    Same thing with sewing machines.   My future plans are to continue with the education, only it will be in teaching/classroom setting.   Some of you encouraged me to continue passing on the knowledge that I have on sewing, crafting, quilting, different feet, and on sewing machines.    Twill be posting my classes as well as schedule on this web site.   My classes will be at 506 N. Main (the same place I've been for the last 8 months),  and possible at Cottonwood Quilts and Prairie Flowers in Alden (I need to talk to the owner of those  business first)  I am planning on going a little slower in September as I declutter my sewing room.  I am still planning on the sewing retreat to Council Grove for the 1st weekend in October.   I will be getting the final detail together this week and post on the web next Sunday.
